Jealousy doesnt come into it, religion doesnt bring anyone together it does exactly the opposite it creates division, x amount of people practice this religion y amount of people practice another, x think y are infidels and y think x are blasphemers. Me i dont hate people who practice any spiritual faith religiously, but i do think you people are deluded your happiness is based on a book around a man who died thousands of years ago, you people live by a manual that is hoplessly out of date and not in touch with modern society, and have failed to adapt with the advance of time. Faith is based exactly on that faith not fact. Surely true belief must come with the knowledge that what you believe is real, otherwise you simply believe in that which you cannot claim with certainty to be true.

The bible itself while an interesting read certainly with many good stories and a code of decent morals which people without the ability (or the willingness lets face it many probably arent willing to take responsibility for their actions, much easier to follow the teachings of others or point fingers) to reach there own conclusions about what is right and wrong can abide by. However it has been transcribed over many centuries most often by the religious orders themselves as in the past not many people other than monks were able to read and write, so stories have likely become distorted and exaggerated and i would imagine many are out right falsehoods, ever hear of chinese whispers?

Personally i think organised religious faith has run its course and its usefulness to man kind decreases as the years go by, people these days are educated to a far higher degree and have the skills and logical ability to survive without having to resort to superstition.
