    Just in case someone should read this. The bit at the end, told by “Chris,” was mostly rubbish. There haven’t been studies to show that any of that stuff is true for the occasional user. Like anything else, moderation is the key. You can drink too much also, and that’s legal. Funny though, pot won’t kill you directly and alcohol can.

      Actually, yes, studies have shown that all of that is true. A quick pubmed or google scholor search for “cognative impairment thc” reveals numerous long and short term studies for vastly varying amounts of use. I'm just going to throw out one study, you can read the rest yourself: Cognitive consequences of cannabis use: Comparison with abuse of stimulants and heroin with regard to attention, memory and executive functions, Lundqvist, T, Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior, Volume 81, Issue 2, June 2005, Pages 319-330.

        actually what u have just said is bullshit ..the only thing studies on pot have shown is what the people paying for them want ..the reason hemp is illegal is because it would knock the timber industry out ..and all them fat cats would lose billions .also alcohol is a depressant which is great to give to the populace to “dump them down” and that in itself helps the goverment fuck us over more so DORIAN MD ..take ur lies and fuck off with them

    Cybercop15: You are right, the character did say “prolonged use” but you misread what I said. I didn’t say that he said pot can kill you. I was only commenting on the fact that alcohol is legal, and you can die from alcohol poisoning but you can’t die from marijuana poisoning. Do you understand my point?     both of you arguing are wrong up there. the facts, proven by FEDERAL tests prove that the lack of oxygen due to smoke inhalation is the underlying cause of any adverse effects of marijuana. FDA studies also show it can not only stimulate brain cell growth but also reduce some lung cancer tumors by up to 50%. the previous studies that “proved” marijuana is bad for you were grossly misconducted (small monkeys were given 60 joints to smoke through a gas mask within 5 minutes causing death in minutes from lack of oxygen to the brain). the effects mentioned in the episode such as short term memory loss and decreased motor skills are completely true but only while the active agent THC is being processed in the body, and after 24 hours or less the body will return to completely normal. in over 5000 years of documented recreational and medical use marijuana has 0, i repeat ZERO deaths or linked deaths. pose this against tobacco, alcohol, prescription drugs, even aspirin kills thousands of people each year. and im not some hippie i’m a taxpayer tired of paying for people to be jailed for carrying a completely non-lethal substance.

    i also forgot to mention one way marijuana can kill. A lethal does of THC or an overdose, even with the most potent strains, is 60 pounds of marijuana and must be smoked within 10 minutes or less (which is undeniably impossible) to put into perspective it takes about a teaspoon of heroin to overdose.
    another myth is that pot in the 70′s wasn’t as bad, modern marijuana is actually much better for you and the THC percentage has marginally increased; for all you parents telling your kids that’s why they can’t smoke

    Actually the study quoted by you does not say anything about “permanent damage to the brain tissue” caused by Cannabis. Besides its a study from zero-tolerance-Sweden and seems pretty pointless to me. Did anyone expect acute drug intoxication to improve your mental functioning? The interesting question is whether there is long-term impairment after cessation of use and such is doubtful, in the case of cannabis, and non-existent in the case of opiates like Heroin.
